Welcome to my site! My name is Lily, and I’m a Biologist based in the Highlands of Scotland.
The fast-paced lives that most of us now have has had an increasingly obvious effect on our mental health. From my personal experience of dealing with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) & anxiety throughout my life (whether I knew it had a name or not), nature has been a constant source of calm.
Being out & connecting with nature has helped me to cope with my mental health throughout my life, and I believe that it can help so many other people too. As humans we have been in nature for our entire history – it is only relatively recently that we began to live in large cities constructed in straight lines and artificial shapes. Our bodies & minds respond to the calming effect of the nature around us, and tapping into this can really benefit our mental health.
Getting more connected with nature benefits us, but also the world around us. By helping to protect environments & species, we can learn to relax and slow down while simultaneously knowing we are helping to protect this important resource for future generations.
On my site, I try to show easy ways to connect with nature and improve your mental wellbeing. I am by no means a psychologist or therapist – I just hope to create a place where others can benefit from what I have learnt and am learning. I also love to read, write, craft & bake, so I also include these activities in my slow-living site.
Thank you for being here with me
